ooooh!  oooooh!  I know! I know!!!!  Because it's in BYTES, not bits. 

If you want the measurement in bits, put Options [target]: bits in your
cfg file..RTFM....I'm quite sure it's in there...

This may be a newbie question but I and several of my co workers are
stumped.

Why does MRTG divide the ifSpeed by 8 when it is producing the HTML pages?
