[mrtg] subinterfaces in MRTG

Hello,
	I have ran into an interesting dilemma.  I added a sub-interface on
our router and went to monitor it via MRTG.  I know that there was no
traffic on this subinterface yet it shows 1.8mb traffic avg out.  Is
monitoring subinterfaces a viable option in MRTG?  If not, has anyone found
a workaround short of installing SNMP on each machine on the sub-interfaces?
	Any help would be appreciated.
