[mrtg] Error.png from 14all.cgi

Hello all,

I'm working with MRTG-2.9.17, rrdtool-1.0.35 and 14all.cgi to collect,
store and display my trends.

Sometimes when a graph can't be created 14all.cgi generates an red error
png. This is generated by the function sub errorpng() in the 14all.cgi
script. The function returns a bunch of numbers witch in some way
transform to a png image. 

Because my boss panics every time he sees this error image I want to
replace it by a bit less alarming image. But I haven't got the foggiest
idea how to convert an image to the numbers like in 14all.cgi. I don't
kwon how this technique is called. If I knew that I might find some
information on the internet.

Who can help me?
