Remember that MRTG does not catch SNMP traps - to do that, you need some sort of NMS software, such as HP Openview ($) or Nagios (free). You can, however, make MRTG *send* traps by using the Thresholds to trigger a script that sends SNMP traps.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV dir=ltr><FONT face=Arial size=2>If what you want to do is send traps to your NMS, then under linux it's easy - there's a program to do it as part of the SNMP client. Under windows you'd need something else, but I believe there are several shareware programs available for free download that do this, or if you're a masochist you can write one yourself in Perl (probably too much effort).</FONT></DIV>

I've been poking around Google, Mr. Shipway's site, ActiveState's site and others looking for a tutorial or examples of how to set custom SNMP traps on Windows using ActiveState Perl. Does anyone know where to go to find some examples?<BR></FONT></DIV>
