-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Folks,

I spent the whole weekend, (yes I know I should see a
specialist) hacking mrtg up to work better on windows.

The result is, that I built a gcc-mingw32 cross
compiler on my Solaris box and am now able to compile
rateup.exe for windows without even logging into a W2K
box (I think this is very cool). There is now a new
rateup.exe which creates pngs and does NOT OPEN ANY
Console WINDOWS while running. (no more FAQ ...)

I have also added a new switch to mrtg called --logging
which allows you to specify a logfile where the output
of mrtg should go, so that you can still figure out how
the beast is doing when it runs in daemon mode. (works
cross platform)

Further have I investigated the Windows Event-Log
System. I have added a special function to the to mrtg
so that it can report all problems to the Application
Event-log of Windows if you use --logging=eventlog

All this is available in mrtg-2.9.15 which is already
published on

   http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/pub

cheers
tobi (who still does unix most of the time and loves it)
