[mrtg] stats with mrtg

hi

Anyone can help me out on this one ?

I have some log's I want to monitor using mrtg.  Can anyone tell me how to create a proper log file witch can be used with mrtg to set these things in a graph?
let's say I generate a value every 5 minutes.  That value should be monitored.  Anyone has some expirience with this kind of stuff ?
