crond does not run from any particular directory.....

make sure you crontab contains absolute paths, not relative - example :

0,5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55 * * * * /usr/bin/mrtg /home/mrtg/configs/config.cfg

NOT 0,5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55 * * * * ./mrtg ./atm.cfg
