This is normal.

In a normal run, MRTG deletes the old backups, renames the current log to a
backup and rewrites the log with new data. In the first run, you'll get 2
error messages, one when it can't find the backup, one when it can't copy
the current to a backup. The second run you'll get errors about no backup,
the rename will work. The third run, you'll get no error because all of the
files exist.
