[mrtg] Rateup error

Gurus

I have recently installed 2.8.9 on a NT4 SP4 monitoring a Cisco 4700 and am
receiving a rateup error "Can't cope with a -Z, sorry!"

PROBLEM: rateup died from Signal 0
with Exit value 1 when doing router <router>
code was 256..........

Any ideas where I may get some info to troubeshoot rateup errors?
