Hi,

maybe the stats are only collected for the physical interfaces.
Would be a design issue of the snmp-agent.
I have seen this the one or other way round.
Ascend devices show values for virtual interfaces
(e.g. connections over a E1 or T1 Dialup line)
but not for the physical ones (always zero for E1).

In your case you could sum up all the physical interfaces
with mrtg to get the total amount for the virtual interface.

I have never used this, but below an example from
Tim Kennedy (from this List) to sum up all virtual interfaces
to get the physical rates ;-))

---> from Tim Kennedy

Just add all your instances to the target file.

Target[pipe50.yourdomain.com]: 1:public at pipe50.mydomain.com
				+ 2:public at pipe50.mydomain.com
				+ 3:public at pipe50.mydomain.com

Etc, etc. till you have all the wan ports included. (make sure you use teh
real instances, as 1, 2, 3, are not them)

Since the wan ports in use change with every subsequent dial, you need to
graph all of them in the same graph to assure that you are getting the
total in/out octets traversing the ISDN interface.

---> end: from Tim Kennedy

You'll only get problems if the virtual interfaces change often
(today 2 physical ones tomorrow 7 configured for the virtual...)

Another way would be to search the MIBs for your switch.
Maybe the vendor has put some usefull variables in the
Enterprise tree

hope this helps,

bye,

 Joerg Helmert

Matthias,

Please use English, as you will get more response.....

Have you checked the figures you get when you use an ordinary snmp package
and try a snmp-get from the oid you are trying to watch? If you only get
zeroes, then the problem is not MRTG, but is is the wrong oid you are trying
to monitor.

Regards, Rene

Guten Morgen allerseits...

funktioniert also.

Vielen Dank,
Matthias Minich
