[mrtg] Passing ThreshDesc to a script

In the MRTG documentation it mentions that it's possible to define a
ThreshDesc on a per target basis and then pass that to an external script
as $THRESHDESC.  I'd like to set up and use Thresh Desc, because what
appears to be sent now is target,thresh,value.  Target often isn't user
friendly in spelling out the obvious.  Any hints on how to accomplish
this?  Or where to start looking?
