I find UCD-SNMP to be a much much more complete implementation of SNMP -
it even supports SNMPv3 for the really adventurous.

ucd-snmp replaced cmu-snmp as the SNMP of choice between RedHat
5.1 and 5.2, so it's been available as RPM's there for some time.
