[mrtg] How to monitor assymetric serial lines?

Hello,

We have a couple of assymetric serial lines that we monitor using mrtg2.5.1. The
problem with assymetric lines is that the %utilization shown for ifInOctets is wrong (Maxbytes
is derived from the OUTPUT side of the interface).
I have looked at the docs to find out how
to do simple math on the targets, but the math is done to both ifInOctets AND ifOutOctets. That
won't get me the correction factor I need for the INPUT side without messing up the other side...
I have read thru the docs that came with mrtg, looked at the contrib directory and looked at what was
offered on the mrtg web page, but I can't find either a way to do the multiplication or a hack that
will allow it (I'm not a perl guy...)

Any suggestions short of graphing both sides independently? Is there a perl script out
there that will do simple arithmetic to the column in the log file that represents the input side? Would
that work?
