[mrtg] Q: MAC addr from a cisco(CAT 5500) switched port

i've searched the archive, but NAY

looking to figure out how i can determine the MAC addr (or better yet the
IP) from an individual switched 10/100  port on a cisco CAT 5500 ??

most of our network admins seem to be reluctant to do a "set portname".....

looking for a way to automate it  instead of manually setting them
