Yes it is possible. Check docs about running a script from a TARGET line.

Subject: [mrtg] Monitoring With MRTG + Linux

Hello,
is it possible with MRTG to monitor a command that is has an output in
numerical characters, eg
counting the number of lines that a specific item occurs?
eg cat logfilename.log | grep -c error
would give say
10, then 25 then 8
and monitor it every hour as the logs purged/rotated hourly.
Does anyone have any ideas if that is possible and what the command / config
file would look like
thankyou
Jimmy Stewpot
