Thanks for the info. I am not sure what happened but the mrtg 2.8.12
distribution that
I obtained had the following readme file and no ping-probe :-
-- extract --
to prevent people from using older versions of mrtg-ping-probe,could you use the
latest version for your next release(
ftp://ftp.AgiX.NET/pub/networking/mrtg/mrtg-ping-probe/ )or maybe even removeit
from the current distribution of mrtgand just add a README file in the contrib
directory or so.
-- end --
The ftp site referenced, also allued no successful results, but this looks to
have
been rectified now. And I have the ping-probe so all is well.

Subject: [mrtg] Re: Where can I find ping-probe?
Question 1:
Can anyone point me in the right direction please. I am looking for the
ping-probe
utility but it has been removed form the latest mrtg distribution.
Answer:
You are incorrect. The latest release I am aware of is 2.8.12 which is
the release I am running and I am using the ping-probe that came with
that release.
Question 2:
Am I right in thinking ping-probe will run on Windows NT as well as
Unix? (If
not, is there
a separate version for NT?)
Answer:
You are correct. It will work on NT. That's how I'm using it. Be sure to
read the directions!
