[mrtg] cannot find executable error

When I try to run MRTG I get the following error:

ERROR: Can't find location of mrtg executable
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at mrtg line 57.

I tried adding the path to MRTG in my path and I tried running it both with and without 'perl' in front of it...I'm not sure what the problem is.
