[mrtg] MaxRate1 and MaxRate2

do these do what i think they should (or at the very least, do they do what i
want them to do)

i have an ADSL line, so upstream and downstream have different max values.
i'd like to set MaxBytes to different values for each direction.

so i'd use MaxBytes[1,2] to specify these?  if so, which one is which?  using a
pretty juch default mrtg setup, which is in and which is out?
