[mrtg] Maximum values during the sample period

Hi

I've now got MRTG running successfully against a number of ports on 1 particular
router, however I wanted to check I've got this right...

When the data is returned to the graph after one of the 5 minute interval poll's
is the value shown the value at the time of the poll or does the SNMP stat's on
the router know and/or return the peak value hit during that 5 minute interval.
If it can return the peak values, is there any easy way of getting this info
added to the graph in addition to the actual value at the time of sample???
