[mrtg] lock file in 2.9.4

in older versions of mrtg, when run as daemon, it would test for and
leave a lock file.  so i could have a cron job to run the start script
every hour in case the puppy died.

2.9.4 seems not to lock, so the cron job creates a lot of mrtgs which
just don't seem to get on well with eachother. :-)

is the intent that i fall back to non-daemon mode and cron mrtg every
five minutes, or is there some other hack?
