[mrtg] gif/png problem...

Hello!
I just installed mrtg-2.8.12-2 and cmu-snmp-3.7-1 and I cannot have them
working...
The error message is:
/usr/bin//rateup: error in loading shared libraries: /usr/bin//rateup:
undefined symbol: gdImageGif
I also have gd-1.8.3-1 installed on my system...
documentation says mrtg works with both png and gif(not supported by gd
> 1.3). 
how cat I get it working with png?
