[mrtg] mrtg running but not updating?

I've got MRTG monitoring a number of our machines but suddenly this morning
it's not updating the graphs. The .png, .html and .log files are all being
updated, mrtg is running as a daemon. I tried stopping it, changing the
config to not run as daemon then run interactively and it doesn't give any
errors. Any ideas on how to debug this?
