hello all,

i am using interface by descr and am having errors whenever there is a
space in the descr, for example
\ATM0/0.0-aal5\ layer

When using the .cfg files that cfgmaker made i have to no problem. A
sample is
Target[1.1.1.1_ATM0_0.0-aal5_layer]: \ATM0/0.0-aal5\
layer:xxxx at 1.1.1.1
blah
blah
blah

When running mrtg on this file witn debug tarp turned on, the result is
this:
--tarp: Starting 1.1.1.1_atm0_0.0-aal5_layer -> \ATM0/0.0-aal5\
layer:xxxx at 1.1.1.1
--tarp: Found (7) Simple: Comu:xxxx Host:1.1.1.1 Opt: IfS:Descr
Key:ATM0/0.0-aal5 layer
               InOID:ifInOctets OutOID:ifOutOctets

So, now i try to measure Discards in and out like so:

Target[1.1.1.1_ATM0_0.0-aal5_layer_Discards]:
ifInDiscards\ATM0/0.0-aal5\ layer&ifOutDiscards\ATM0/0.0-aal5\
layer:xxxx at 1.1.1.1

and get the message:
--tarp: Starting 1.1.1.1_atm0_0.0-aal5_layer_discards ->
ifInDiscards\ATM0/0.0-aal5\ layer&ifOutDiscards\ATM0/0.0-aal5\
layer:xxxx at 1.1.1.1
--tarp: Found (7) Simple: Comu:xxxx Host:1.1.1.1 Opt: IfS:Descr
Key:ATM0/0.0-aal5 layer&ifOutDiscards\ATM0/0.0-aal5 layer
               InOID:ifInOctets OutOID:ifOutOctets

WARNING: Could not match host:'batman at 130.202.129.1' ref:'Descr'
key:'ATM0/0.1-aal5 layer&ifOutDiscards\ATM0/0.1-aal5 layer'

It can't match the Description because it is not splitting up the field
right and it is assuming that is it like the first example.
well, that's my problem. redhat 6.2, mrtg 2.9.2. Normal interfaces like
Ehternet4 monitor Discards in and out fine so i have narrowed it down to
something with the space.

any thoughts appreciated.
