[mrtg] error logging?

Hello all,

Been running 2.8.12 quite happily for some time now, it has been invaluable
for monitoring our network and we have already solved some of our bandwidth
problems with it's use. (Related note, if ALL of your slower WAN links in
an NT based network are saturated every 5 minutes and empty the next, check
that no one is abusing Directory Replication by stuffing 10 megs of docs and
files into the export directory)

Incident: Someone upgraded a router, and I noticed shortly after that their
chart stopped upgrading I ran mrtg from a prompt instead of with
mrtgkick.bat and was rewarded with the error that the router name/interface
number had changed, no updates will be made until the offending line is
removed from MRTG.OK and the CFG file corrected. Great! No Problem, even
works after following these simple directions. (Note to Microsoft: Error
messages that deliver useful information, what a concept!)

Question: Can the on screen output of these error messages be redirected to
a text file (say, runtime.log) like a standard Microsoft command. i.e.; edit
MRTGKICK.BAT to:

@echo off
c:\c:\perl\bin\perl c:\mrtg-2.8.12\run\mrtg c:\mrtg2.8.12\run\mrtg.cfg >>
RUNTIME.LOG
exit

?

Question 2, What exactly is MRTG.OK? Interfaces to ignore or ___?
Thanks,
Jeff
