[mrtg] mrtg-2.9.0pre23 install problems

I am trying to get the latest MRTG running on my Cobalt Raq2.  Version 
2.8.12 works fine but I want to use the new features in 2.9.0pre23.  To 
make things easy I started a fresh install based on the instructions 
(http://ee-staff.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/unix-guide.html).

Everything works appears to work.  However, this output when I run 'make'.

[root mrtg-2.9.0pre23]# make

The next step is to change to the 'run' directory but no 'run' directory 
exists.  Only a 'bin'.  So I try to run from the 'bin' directory and get 
this output.

[root bin]# ./cfgmaker

Where am I going wrong? Help!
