[mrtg] change unit in graphs

Hey All,

I'm new to MRTG. I 'd like to ask a silly question. How can I change the
unit in graphs? The scenario was  this:
The unit in graphs was changed automatically when suddenly there was a huge
traffic. Before that huge traffic,
the unit in the graph was bits per second, but due to the sudden huge
traffic the unit was changed to kilobit, with
61k, 122k, 183k and 244k vertically. Now traffic below certain value becomes
zero in the graph. How can I change 
the unit in the graph to the former unit or small unit?
