[mrtg] Editing MRTG's .log file

I _know_ I have seen this one the list, but I've poked diligently at the
web sites and the list archives and I can't find it.

Situation: a very long time ago a monitored quantity went berserk and
ever since we have not seen any meaningful stuff on the year graph.

What do I need to do to find the offending entries (three or four consecutive
enteries, I think) and reset their values to the neighborhood average?

I thought I had it figured out and cleaned up one of the three related
graphs (same data goes into three different Targets), but it must have
been blind, stupid luck, because the same technique didn't work on the
othere two.

And yes--I deleted the appropriate year.gif after each attempt.
