Are you sure you know how cron works? (I cannot deduce if you're
a linux newbie from your mail.) You don't "run a crontab".

Anyway, I do recall having some problems with cron on redhat linux.
I don't recall which version but I do recall that it was with the
user specific crontab files.  You could try and restart the cron
daemon.  If this helps, the entry for mrtg will probably be in the
user specific crontab files and it might help to move them to the
system specific crontab (in /etc/crontab).

Another cause for your problem may be http://faq.mrtg.org/FAQ017.html
(the problem) combined with http://faq.mrtg.org/FAQ011.html (last
paragraph which is the reason why you don't get errors).
