[mrtg] problem with percentage displays

Hello all,
I have searched the archive and haven't find anything that answered my
question, so I am now turning to the open forum for help. I have MRTG 2.9.7
running on Solaris 7 patch 23 on a E420 (no RRDTool). It is on stable
conditioned power, and hasn't had a glitch anywhere else in the OS or
applications. It gathers data fine from roughly 30 networks, the log files
appear to be fine, and graphs update as required and look to be correct, but
when the data is graphed I get "0.0 b/s" calculated for the Max In/Max Out
fields. If I remove the logs and restart the daemon then the calculated
percentage is fine for a while, then fails. I would rather not remove the
logs since the historical trend is lost, but I really want these percentages
back, as they make the boss happy. Has anyone out there encountered a
recurring corruption (or whatever this is) like this? If so, how did you fix
it (if you did)?
I have considered upgrading to 2.9.10 and RRDTool, but I would like some
assurance that this will fix the problem before going through the change
management process to get the required downtime. Any and all help will be
greatly appreciated
TIA,
Alan
