If it is CISCO, Netflow will be able to give you CSV type file per protocol,
port etc.

You will need to have the Netflow switching on on the router, and then
Netflow Collector on a server. You will be able to collect CSV type files.
There is also NetFlow Analyser which is GUI driven Software allow to get
graphical illustration.

each sw cost I think around 5 grands.

Subject: [mrtg] measuring protocol distributions

Question;

There's sniffer and Net X-Ray, and tons of other utilities that monitor
network traffice to no end. My question is; "What product can give me ad-hoc

reports (graphs, html's) as to how many bytes (and packets) of data / per
protocol passes throught any given interface?". Sniffer is expensive. I need

an alternate solution.

Best regards
Jeff
