[mrtg] Just get flat lines! (blue ones!)

Hope someone can help here:

I've got MRTG running two external scripts to get data.  If you run the
script manually, you get data back.  If MRTG runs the scripts though, the
result in the logfile is:

919728000 0 0 0 0

Manually running the script though gives the following:

hostname.com

(hostname changed for security reasons!. . .)

Using "Target[Foxbat]: `/usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/mrdc.pl -a 10.1.1.141 -s 1`"
to call the data though gives the zero result indicated previously.  Any
idea why MRTG is not logging the data actually requested and returned?
