If your phone has an email address - you could call blat (a freeware command
line STMP application) to send a message to you phone. We are doing that here.

MRTG cannot send any kind of message, but you can make it run a program if
an event happens. So if you can write a script that will call your phone,
and you can write a script to sense when a link is down, combine them
together and you're set!
I know there are scripts out there that run under (along with?) MRTG that
can sense when a link goes down, but I cannot help you there.
As an alternative, check out Ipswich's WhatsUp. Good program. Easy to set
up and somewhat powerful.

Is there a way to make mrtg to send a message to a mobile phone whenever an
IP
address is not responding?
