If you look at the MIB where you found the OID, it should look something
like so:
TonysTemperatureOID OBJECT-TYPE
	SYNTAX	xxxx
	UNITS		"degrees Celsius"
	...etc

If the SYNTAX field says "Gauge", you need to specify the "gauge" option in
your config, thus:

Options[10.1.0.2]: gauge

Remember that if you have specified a default value for options at the top
of your config (Options[_]:) that setting this later in your config will
override those settings.

There should be lots of examples of temperature configs in the list archive,
I like to use Google to search (it seems to be faster, at least on this side
of the pond).

If the SYNTAX line says "Integer", then you have a different problem.  See
the FAQ http://faq.mrtg.org/FAQ.html, specifically the first three items
under "Problems while running", and see if they don't help.
