Nabil,

MRTG is just reporting it can't update the file. Most likely you only gett
his message the first two times you run mrtg against that cfg. It will
happen every single time you create a new target and mrtg needs to
create the right files. Basically, mrtg complains because there is no .logf
iel, so it complains and then creates the .log file, but can't
update the .old file because it doesn't exist yet, so it complains about
that too. The next pass, mrtg complains again, but this about just the
.old files not being present, so it creates them. The third time throughe
 verything should be a-ok.

Paul

Greetings all,

I update mrtg to the new version (2.9.7) couple of days ago. I started to
notice an odd problem when executing mrtg script with a config file, this is
the command I issued and the output:

[root at mrtg cfg]# /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/mrtg dhcp-test.cfg
Rateup WARNING: /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/rateup Can't remove
134.67.130.1_134.67.13
6.90.old updating log file
Rateup WARNING: /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/rateup Can't remove
134.67.130.1_134.67.13
0.1.old updating log file
[root at mrtg cfg]#

Please note that the files to get created, just wanted to know what this
error meant.

Thanks,

Nabil
