[mrtg] OID question

Greetings all,

I've a quick question concerning individual OIDs. Do I start the OID with
(.) or not (.)

1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.6 OR
.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.6

which one is the correct way.
