It is sad that Deja is in transition to Google and much functionality is 
temporarily missing.

The good news is you can search the archives to THIS mailing list. Just go 
to http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/mrtg and on that page there is a "More Lists 
and Search Facility" link. Take that and tell it you want to search the MRTG 
list for your question.

The short answer to your question is that you can do what you want but that 
you have to roll-your-own using rrdtool.
