[mrtg] configuration question.

Good morning, I have a quick question.  I am wanting to pull a data point
from a sorted log file and make it one of my graph variables.

IE
New .cfg:
Target[myrouter.hssi4-0-0.1]: 50:mycommunity at myrouter
MaxBytes[myrouter.hssi4-0-0.1]: 128000
AbsMax[myrouter.hssi4-0-0.1]:" "/path/to/log/file.txt""
Title[myrouter.hssi4-0-0.1]: myrouter : Hssi4/0/0.1
PageTop[myrouter.hssi4-0-0.1]: <H1>Traffic Analysis for Hssi4/0/0.1</H1>
...etc

would this work or will I need to program it as --

datafile$="/path/to/log/file.txt
Target[myrouter.hssi4-0-0.1]: 50:mycommunity at myrouter
MaxBytes[myrouter.hssi4-0-0.1]: 128000
AbsMax[myrouter.hssi4-0-0.1]:" "datafile$""
Title[myrouter.hssi4-0-0.1]: myrouter : Hssi4/0/0.1
PageTop[myrouter.hssi4-0-0.1]: <H1>Traffic Analysis for Hssi4/0/0.1</H1>
...etc


Which is the better method, which will work -- or am I totally off-base?
