Hi There,
I have tried to use MRTG (both Versions 2.9.7 and 2.9.10) on Linux to
monitor a NT4.0 // SP6 with no luck
I have read whatever FAQ etc I could find... all to no avail
SNMP appears to be working on the NT Server. MRTG can create router usage
and pinp-probe
graphs on the Linux Redhat 7.0 PC.
I seem to have sucessfully opened up the misc NT performance counters and
from any Windows
NT/9x/2000 PC running GETIF can see
.iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.microsoft.software.systems.os.winn
t.performance
or
.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1
and retrieve correct information (disk space free, memory free etc.)
I can also walk
.iso.org.dod.internet.mgmt.mib-2
or
.1.3.6.1.2.1
and retrieve information. But
When I run MRTG it seems to be stopping within this area
e.g.
SNMP Error:
Received SNMP response with error code
error status: noSuchName
index 1 (OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.10)
SNMPv1_Session (remote host: "x.y.w.z" [x.y.w.z].161)
community: "monitor"
request ID: 1717795992
PDU bufsize: 8000 bytes
timeout: 2s
retries: 5
backoff: 1)
SNMPGET Problem for ifInOctets.10 ifOutOctets.10 on monitor at x.y.w.z
WARNING: Expected a number but got
WARNING: Expected a number but got
NMP Error:
Received SNMP response with error code
error status: noSuchName
index 1 (OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.15)
etc. etc.
Within my MRTG config file I have set the parameter
NoMib2:yes
Thinking this might help... the result is the same?
I cannot see the values indicated above. To be clearer
Using GetIF I can determine the value for:
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.1
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.2
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.3
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.4
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.5
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.6
but not
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.10
nor
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10.15
as they do not seem to exist?
I am running MRTG on RedHat 7.0?? I had a problem getting Ping Probe to work
with RedHAt and
had to make a couple of quick changes to the PERL script.
I have tried this on a couple of different Windows NT Server (w/ SP6 as
well) and the result
seems to be the same but will try to confirm the depth of the problem
A quick install running MRTG 2.9.10 on Windows 2000 Server gives the same
error messages. I have not tested this fully but it seems to rule out the OS
as the problem?
Any help/tips would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian Lobb
