[mrtg] Which is correct, bits or Bytes?

I have setup mrtg to monitor my network traffic. I just did the basic
cfgmaker command to find the main interface and it set the graph as using
Bytes. Sitting idle, my server shows 24 - 26kB/s which should be kBytes
correct?

My ISP is also using mrtg and their graph shows bits and idles around
195kb/s which should be bits. I know there are 8 bits in a Byte which then
196kbits = 24.5kbytes. So, by his graph, I am doing gigs per day. There is
no way. So how do I tell who is correct? If you compare the two graphs,
they are identical except for the scaling and numbers. I killed everything
I could think of that would cause a lot of traffic, smtp, snmp, ftp, http,
dns.

It is a w2k server and I even opened up the performance monitor and started
graphing the same stuff and its numbers match that of my mrtg.

Thanks for any help or advice.
