[mrtg] newbie : Average problem

hi,
i have a little problem with MRTG generated graphs, here's the situation :

- Want to see total send / received mails
- I did à perl script that return two values every 5 minutes

If i reset MRTG graph and i send a mail i always have the avarage value.
Exemple :
0-5 mins : one mail send => i have 0 in graph
5-10 mins : 3 mail send => i have 2 in graph

I'm using gauge option so i dont understand ...

Any idea ?
