and...keep in mindm expecially with a 7xxx series router, that
support for persistent ifindexes was added a while back
try:
router#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
router(config)#snm
router(config)#snmp-server if
router(config)#snmp-server ifindex pe
router(config)#snmp-server ifindex persist
to see if the version of the IOS you have supports it.
this will keep the ifindex from changing when you add/remove
interfaces or when you reboot a box.
