Adam,
at this point in time I would like to argue that this is not a bug, but
a feature ;-) You might want to run the probe with the silent option
to supress the ERROR messag. I am still discussing which messages to
print when, I might be adding different levels of "chattiness" so
anyone can run the probe with just the messages he wants to see.
Printing the message will cause cron to send you a mail - annoying, but
then again you are informed that there was a link down. Again your
mileage may vary, so try to use the -s (silent) option.
