[mrtg] cron jobs not running

Sheesh... looks like an old machine was rebooted at 4AM this morning. 
Since then, cron jobs haven't been running.  I tried touching
/etc/crontab, kill -1'ing the crond PID, etc. to no avail.  What else
might get it started again?
