[mrtg] netscape 4.08 and png

For anyone out there still using NS 4, I'm having problems viewing the mrtg graphics. It seems flaky at best. When the mrtg page loads the graphics are presented as broken as though it cannot find them. I right click on the graphic and select View Graphic and it displays. On subsequent visits to the page, the graphic is viewable however it is only using the cached copy of the graphic. I cannot view the page with up-to-date graphics without first right clicking and selecting view graphic.

NS does support PNG internally. What is up?
I've tried the same page with both IE 55 and NS 6 and both seem to work fine.
