I had a 7206 die on me once because of "excessive" SNMP queries. It
was a confirmed bug in the IOS.

Subject: [mrtg] cfgmaker reboots router

Whenever I try to run cfgmaker on any of our Cisco 1417 routers I get
this
error:

C:\mrtg-2.5.2>perl cfgmaker --ifref=descr public at 172.21.9.1 > 09.cfg
- --base: Get Device Info on public at 172.21.9.1
- --base: Vendor Id: cisco
- --base: Populating confcache
SNMP Error:
no response received
SNMPv1_Session (remote host: "172.21.9.1" [172.21.9.1].161
                  community: "public"
                 request ID: 991321796
                PDU bufsize: 8000 bytes
                    timeout: 2s
                    retries: 5
                    backoff: 1)

and at this point the router reboots. Could it be the PDU bufsize
setting?
I noticed that on the 1601's there is 8k bytes configuration memory
and on
the 1417's there is only 7k bytes. Any ideas on how to make this
work?
TIA...
