Yes, however you're talking about *bandwidth* too ?!? It was confusing.

This should indeed be possible by multiplying the rate by 300. Maybe
it fails because of rounding or so. By the way, the 300 should equal
sampling interval if I'm not mistaking. For normal monitoring 300 is
all right. Keep in mind that it is a workaround.

Ack. Now this is clear and yes, it should be a counter in that case.
Try finding out what *exactly* goes wrong. Keep a close look at the
first few lines of the logfile and note the values + timestamps.
Calculate the differences by hand and compare.
Maybe this will make you realise what goes wrong.
Also, check your options, maxbytes etcetera.
