[mrtg] Mrtg Graphs - Peaks

Hello all,
 I am currently trying to monitor a Juniper M20 Oc3/(atm155) interface.
The monitoring is coming through perfectly but I am having a problem with
 the graphs. 
Whats happening is the Graphs are peaking up to 15-19mb/second even though
the maximum traffic is 8mb/second.
I have put the absmax variable in, and the maxbytes variable and the graphs
 are still coming out strangly.
If anyone has any ideas as to put MAXIMUM values into the graphis it would
 be much appreciated.
