[mrtg] snmp + variables

Hello All,
I am currently trying to monitor a custom OID Value on a router so that i
need to use the OID value. 
Whenever i do an SNMPGET on the router i get the value back and its
correct, whenever i put
value&value:community at router:
The values are the same for both because its a static number (of users
connected).
Why does MRTG not graph anything if snmpget will get the correct variable
every time ?
I hope someone can help me with this issue,
