[mrtg] SNMPWALK of MAC addresses returns rubbish!

Hi all,

Slightly off topic, but seing as I'm need this for my MRTG site I thought
there might be someone in a position to help....

I'm using the snmpwalk function in Perl, trying to retrieve the MAC
addresses of the various interfaces. Info is retrieved, but it's in the form
of abstract characters.
I understand that the string returned is in octal, but I can't convert it to
the real MAC addresses.

Any help would be appreciated,
