That depends...

A true 2MB link carries 2 megabits per second and thus there are
2,000,000 bits per second. In practice, any link close to 2mbps
is called a 2mbps link.  E1 (which is 2,048,000 bps) is close to
2mbps. UMTS is really 2,000,000 bps.

There is a nice link to be found on network speeds.  Unfortunately
the translation for kilobyte, megabyte etcetera is wrong!
